Pollination management workshop
Join the AV23010 project team for a practical pollination management workshop, bringing together pollination experts, researchers and industry specialists.
Where and when
Venue: Donovan Farms, Pine Creek Rd, Givelda
Date and time: 5 August, 2026 | 8am – 12:45pm
Due to limited spots and the practical nature of the workshop, growers are
encouraged to secure your place now! Regional macadamia growers are also welcome to attend.
What to expect
This session will explore pollination in avocados beyond honey bees, highlighting the importance of pollinator diversity in reducing risk and improving outcomes. It will include insights from recent hover fly research, as well as the role of native pollinators and cover crops.
Current challenges such as varroa mite impacts, changing hive availability, and implications for growers will be discussed, along with practical strategies to support pollination, encourage beneficial insects, and work effectively with beekeepers.
This workshop is designed to support growers to plan, adjust and refine their pollination management strategies. You will be encouraged to actively contribute to discussions, share your own experiences and compare approaches in an informal, practical setting, guided by technical and on-farm experience.
