2026 Tristate Avocado Grower Regional Forum summary

Recap of the 2026 Tristate Avocado Grower Regional Forum

What really drives yield consistency in avocados? We dug into this and more at the 2026 Tristate Regional Avocado Forum on 29 April in Renmark, South Australia.

56 growers and industry stakeholders, representing 46% of the region’s production, came together to focus on some of the Tristate region’s key priorities.

We all took home highly valuable insights from presentations on the following topics:

  • Industry update and yield consistency – John Tyas, Avocados Australia.
  • Developing a PGR application(s) to reduce summer fruit abscission – Dr Harley Smith, CSIRO
  • Carbohydrates and light – Dr Gerhard Rossouw, QDPI
  • Pollinator insects – Dr David Cook, WA DPIRD
  • Climate and cross pollination – Dr Stephen Trueman, Griffith University
  • Improving avocado irrigation efficiency and effectiveness in Australia – Demetrio Bruno, AHR
  • Orchard cooling – Peter Henry, Netafim.

You can now access the presentations in the BPR Library under ‘Event proceedings’.

The forum was delivered as part of the Avocado Industry Development and Extension Project (AV23010).

A big thank you to the project team for organising and hosting the event, and to all who came along and made the day such a success.

A special thanks to Ben Logos for hosting the farm walk.
