Apply for the Safer Farmers Ambassador Program
Safer Farmers Ambassador Program – Applications now open
Farmsafe Australia is excited to announce that applications are now open for cohort two of the Safer Farmers Ambassador Program, proudly funded by the Australian Government through the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.
Building trusted voices for farm safety
One of the consistent messages across industry is that safety conversations are most powerful when they come from trusted voices within agriculture. This program is designed to support those voices by developing farmers and agricultural workers who are passionate about influencing positive change.
Through leadership development, media and communication training, mentoring and speaking opportunities, participants will build the skills and confidence to become credible advocates for safety, wellbeing and strong farming cultures within their own communities and across Australian agriculture.
What the first cohort achieved
Cohort two builds on the successful pilot program launched in early 2026. Since joining the program, participants have:
- attended a four-day leadership and communications retreat in Canberra, including public speaking, media and narrative training
- continued developing their keynote presentations through ongoing mentoring and coaching
- presented as panellists at Farmsafe state forums
- represented Farmsafe Australia at industry events
- led the 2026 National Farm Safety Week campaign
- participated in media interviews sharing their own safety journeys
- begun preparing keynote presentations for the 2026 Farmsafe Australia Conference.
Who can apply
The Ambassador Network is open to people who:
- are 18 years or older (no upper age limit) and a permanent resident of Australia
- own or work on a farm
- are passionate about contributing to safer, healthier farming communities.
We are looking to build a diverse cohort that reflects the breadth of Australian agriculture across regions, commodities, ages and experience.
Help spread the word
We would greatly appreciate your support in sharing this opportunity throughout your networks. Whether it’s someone already advocating for safer farming or someone with untapped leadership potential, this program exists to help authentic farming voices grow their influence.
Key dates and how to apply
Applications are now open and close on 30 September 2026.
Successful applicants will be announced on National Agriculture Day, 20 November 2026.
