Australian avocado industry comes together for Avo Connections
Last Wednesday, 4 June, over 240 avocado industry representatives came together at the Brisbane Convention Centre for Avo Connections.
Avocados Australia’s annual forum provided the industry with the opportunity to hear the latest developments related to the domestic market, export markets, global food industry trends, an update from Guzman Y Gomez, the latest marketing science insights from Thinkerbell, and important presentations delivered from key members of our Inbound China Trade Mission. It was the most comprehensive program delivered so far in the event’s five year history.
Avocados Australia’s Chair, Matt Kleyn, provided a welcome address and CEO, John Tyas, opened with a detailed industry update.
It was a full program providing Australian avocado industry members with a comprehensive picture including how Australian Avocados are regarded globally and nationally. Keynote speaker, Professor David Hughes, talked about global trends in avocado consumption and international avocado market trends. Perhaps the highlights of the day were the presentations from Steven Marks, founder and co-CEO at Guzman y Gomez, and Adam Ferrier, author and founder of Thinkerbell. In his presentation Steven congratulated Australian avocado growers on doing an “awesome job” producing “The BEST AVOCADOS in the World!” This was welcome praise for Australian avocado growers. While Adam revealed that ‘motivation’ and ‘ease’ are the key factors to driving behaviour change in consumers.
