Australian Hass avocados sampled in in July were 94% acceptable, matching the quality in June and surpassing the industry target of 90%.
Following the trend observed in June, the incidence of unacceptable rots, vascular browning and flesh discolouration has continued to fall. However, unacceptable bruising levels have risen in July from 4.8% to 6.5% (Figure 1), with all affected fruit originating from Queensland.
The first Central New South Wales Hass samples of the season were collected in July, with all fruit meeting acceptable standards; a promising start to the season!
