Expression of Interest: Avocado Strategic Investment Advisory Panels

 

Hort Innovation in partnership with Avocados Australia is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) for 1 position on the Avocado Market Development Advisory Panel and 2 positions on the Avocado Production RD&E Advisory Panel.

The strategic investment advisory panels provide strategic investment advice to Hort Innovation in relation to industry:

  • research, development and extension programs funded by industry R&D levies and matching dollars from the Australian Government
  • demand creation programs funded from both the avocado marketing and R&D statutory levies. The advisory panels are guided by the strategic priorities set out in the industry Strategic Investment Plan 2022-2026.

We are seeking individuals with background in some of the following areas:

  • Western Australia based growers or marketers with export experience
  • Avocado research and development
  • Regional experience producing avocados in either NSW/VIC/SA

with some of the following skills and experience:

  • Strong industry networks
  • Whole of industry perspective
  • Understanding of industry risks and challenges
  • Forward/strategic thinking and problem solving
  • Demonstrated awareness and interest in innovation/new technology
  • Research/trial experience and/or expertise
  • Knowledge of current extension & communications
  • Post-harvest/supply chain challenges
  • Strategic market engagement and development
  • Ability to understand and interpret consumer/trade market data
  • Understanding of supply and demand

These panels meet a minimum of three times per year in a mix of in-person and online meetings, with possible additional online meetings based on need.

Application for the advisory panels will be assessed by a selection panel and shortlisted candidates may then be interviewed. The selection panel will recommend the composition of the advisory panels to the Hort Innovation Executive and AAL Board.
