Expressions of interest South African study

Express your interest – South African avocado study tour: August-September 2027

Australian avocado growers are invited to register their interest in a potential South African avocado study tour to be held in the last week of August 2027, prior to the World Avocado Congress in Cape Town from 6–9 September 2027.

The proposed tour would provide an opportunity for a small group of Australian growers to:

  • visit avocado production regions in South Africa
  • meet with growers and industry representatives
  • learn more about production systems, challenges and opportunities in the South African avocado industry.

Post-congress tours are also expected to be offered; however, these are likely to cater for larger groups. This proposed pre-congress study tour would be smaller and more targeted, with a focus on visiting sites and activities of particular interest to Australian growers.

Express your interest

You can express your interest by completing this form.

At this stage, this is simply an expression of interest and does not represent a commitment to participate.

The aim is to determine whether there is enough interest to warrant further work in developing a draft agenda and exploring possible tour arrangements.

The group is expected to be small, and any further planning will depend on host availability and grower interest.

Your study tour hosts

The proposed tour would be hosted by the Industry Development and Extension Project team (AV23010).
