Managing avocado quality along supply chains – a new case study video

Delivering consistently high-quality avocados is no small success. As businesses expand from domestic to export markets, new complexities emerge, introducing added risks and requiring careful management across the supply chain.

A collective effort to navigate supply chain challenges

The Queensland Department of Primary Industries has collaborated with industry to produce a new case study video as part of the Serviced Supply Chains II (AM21000) project.

Through the video, the project team share how growers and packers are successfully navigating supply chain challenges.

The video features The Avocado Collective, which markets more than 4 million trays annually and exports around 30% of its crop.

Chief Operating Officer, Sophie Cremasco shares the organisation’s journey through the project, highlighting key insights and practical improvements in maintaining quality throughout the supply chain:

“We have now implemented our own data loggers in every sea freight consignment we send out, and we see controlled atmosphere as a core part of our export strategy,” Sophie explains.

“The outcomes from this project are helping inform our decisions, and it’s something we’re proud to be part of.”
