WA avocado growers come together for Regional Forum

WA growers and other avocado industry stakeholders came together on Wednesday, 18 June, for the WA Avocado Regional Forum at the Macedonian Community Hall in Manjimup. The event included presentations that provided an industry update, an overview of the Extension project and its activities, a Polyphagous Shot Hole Borer (PSHB) update,  overview on avocado disease management, pest management insights, a fruit quality update and more. The WA Avocado Grower Regional Forum was supported by Avocados Australia and delivered by the WA Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) as the regional lead, in collaboration with the Queensland Department of Primary Industries (DPI) as part of the Hort Innovation funded Avocado industry development and extension project (AV23010).

The agenda was designed in consultation with industry so the topics were relevant to growers in the region and suited their orchards’ conditions and needs. Copies of the presentations will be made available from the BPR and a summary with resource links will be emailed to all WA growers soon.

The Avocado industry development and extension project (AV23010) has been funded by Hort Innovation, using the avocado research and development levy, co-investment from the Department of Primary Industries Queensland, Western Australian Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, New South Wales Department of Primary Industries, and contributions from the Australian Government. Hort Innovation is a grower-owned, not-for-profit research and development corporation for Australia’s horticulture industry.
