Liz Dan had some great tips about choosing trees for planting when thinking about Phytopthora.

Buy quality trees from quality nurseries. Look for Avocado Nursery Voluntary Accreditation Scheme ANVAS accreditation and Nursery Industry Accrediation scheme NIASA.

Inspect trees prior to dispatch from the nursery. Look out for root bending and trees that might be pot bound. Do not plant if root systems are sparse and black. Do not hold trees longer than 2 weeks before planting.

Never plant a diseased or unhealthy looking tree.
