Matthew Kleyn

Matthew and his wife Louise own Lakeshore Pty Ltd based in Walkamin and Kairi North Queensland which grows avocados. They have been growing avocados for approximately 25 years and have expanded over this period into a large operation which employs approximately 120 people. They also own and operate Pack Centre NQ Pty Ltd, a packing facility focussed on packing Avocados, and have done so for 10 years in Tolga North Queensland.

Matthew is enthusiastic about the Avocado Industry. “Avocados are the greatest fruit grown on the Planet. They are so healthy, that Avocados are classed by all as a Superfood. An Avocado per day has been described by many health professionals as an essential part of the human diet. Imagine what two could do. I am excited and proud to be the Chair of Avocados Australia Limited and am working hard to make our Industry all that it can be. I see the potential of the Avocado Industry as Limitless. That being said it is always important to match consumer demand with supply and is and always will be a balancing act to ensure the sustainability of the entire supply chain.”

Prior to growing avocados, Matthew had been involved and performed roles in many different industries from Hospitality Management, Retail, Ecommerce, Agricultural machinery design and was even a courier in Sydney city for a few years which is how he purchased their first Avocado and Banana Farm.
